Fujifilm Plans ₹800 Crore Semiconductor Materials Plant in Dholer
Japanese company to develop semiconductor materials ecosystem

Tata Electronics and FUJIFILM Corporation have signed a strategic MoU to support the semiconductor materials ecosystem around Tata’s upcoming Dholera fab.
Under the agreement, Fujifilm plans to invest approximately ₹800 crore in phases to establish a semiconductor materials plant in Dholera Special Investment Region.
Why semiconductor materials are important
Producing semiconductor chips requires highly specialized materials and extremely high levels of purity. Semiconductor manufacturing depends on a complex supply chain involving chemicals, materials, gases and other specialized inputs.
Tata Electronics says the partnership with Fujifilm will focus on developing and localizing critical raw materials required for semiconductor fabrication.
Supporting Indian suppliers
Another important element of the partnership is the proposed support for Indian chemical manufacturers.
According to Tata Electronics, Fujifilm will contribute technology, quality assurance and manufacturing-process knowledge to help Indian companies manufacture high-purity chemicals required by the semiconductor industry.
What this means for Dholera
The development could create another layer of industrial activity around the main semiconductor fab.
Instead of having every material transported from distant locations, establishing suppliers and materials facilities closer to the fab can help create a more integrated manufacturing ecosystem.
Tata Electronics says its Dholera fab represents an investment of approximately ₹91,000 crore and is planned as a 300-mm facility capable of producing chips using 28nm to 110nm technology nodes.
NXT HOUSING Takeaway:
Fujifilm’s planned investment adds another major international company to Dholera’s developing semiconductor ecosystem and could encourage additional supplier investments.
